Oleg Rumyantsev participated in the "GR Force 2017" Forum

February 15, 2017 - Oleg G. Rumyantsev, President of the GR League Association of Business-Government Relations Professionals, participated in the GR Force 2017 Forum. During the event, he presented a report titled "Regulatory Aspects of Business-Government Relations in Russia." In his presentation, Rumyantsev outlined key trends in the development of business-government relations in Russia. He explained why the adoption of lobbying legislation would be premature at this stage and addressed critical issues related to industry self-regulation and anti-corruption efforts. The speech particularly focused on the development and implementation of professional standards for GR specialists. Comparing Russian, European and American approaches to regulating government relations, Rumyantsev noted the flexibility and effectiveness of the Russian system while offering practical recommendations for its further improvement.

Special attention was devoted to the proposed professional standard "Specialist in Engagement with Government Authorities, Local Self-Government Bodies, Non-Profit Organizations, and Corporate Interest Representation" currently being developed by GR-League, with particular focus on its potential and advantages.

Through a comparative analysis of European, American, and Russian regulatory approaches in the GR field, the speaker arrived at an optimistic conclusion: Russia's regulatory framework demonstrates greater flexibility and efficiency than its foreign counterparts. Additionally, he provided a set of key practical recommendations for its further refinement.

Special attention was given to the adoption of the professional standard "Specialist in Interaction with Government Authorities, Local Self-Government Bodies, Non-Profit Organizations, and Advocacy of Organizational Interests"—developed by the GR League—its potential, and advantages. Comparing European, American, and Russian approaches to GR regulation, the speaker concluded optimistically that Russia’s regulatory system is more flexible and effective than those abroad. He also provided a number of important practical recommendations for its further improvement.
